Doug Sitton, PE, LEED AP, CPMP, is the president and founder of the St. Louis, Mo., area-based Sitton Energy Solutions. He has over 30 years of diversified experience in the design and construction industry and is an energy efficiency authority known for his leadership, strategic thinking and complex problem solving.

Sitton spent a bulk of his career with Woolpert, where he led the successful turnaround of the national consulting firm’s Facility Design Group. During this time, he recognized an unmet industry need and branched out on his own in 2007 to start Sitton Energy Solutions, an independent, third-party consulting firm offering energy management services to maximize the value of facilities, while reducing energy usage and operating and maintenance costs. To date, Sitton has collectively managed over 1,000 new construction and renovation projects worth over a billion dollars. Sitton Energy Solutions has helped its clients save over $20 million in the last seven years.

Over the years, Sitton’s expertise has been featured in a variety of industry publications, including Facilities Manager, School Planning & Management, St. Louis Construction News and Real Estate, the Missouri Association of School Business Officials Journal and the Illinois Association of School Business Officials Journal. He has also been tapped to present to key influentials associated with the Independent Schools of St. Louis, the Missouri Plant Owner Association, Illinois Community College CFOs, the Illinois Association of School Boards and others.

Sitton chairs the St. Louis Regional Chamber’s Energy and Environment Committee, and also serves on the Chamber’s Board and Policy Council. He was recognized as a “Who’s Who in Energy” in a special supplement published by the St. Louis Business Journal in 2012 and 2013. He is a member of the Associated General Contractors, a board member of the Missouri Growth Association and a board and executive committee member of the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois and the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers. Sitton Energy Solutions is also involved with the St. Louis Regional Chamber’s Green Business Challenge and the U.S. Green Business Council’s High Performance Building Initiative.

Sitton has a Bachelor in Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Masters in Civil Engineering from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
