Dan Barger is a Regional Director for the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council.  The Council represents over 52,000 skilled men and women working throughout Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and Eastern Iowa.  Dan’s responsibility is to oversee all day-to-day operations in the Southern Region (lower 33 counties).

Dan began his career with the UBC in August 1980 as a member of East St. Louis Local 169.  He had the opportunity to work in nearly all facets of our trade including residential, heavy and highway, piledriving, floor laying, millwright, and interior systems.  After over 20 years working in the field, he applied for an organizer position and was chosen for a three-day evaluation by the UBC.  In January of 2001 he accepted the position of organizer with the Southern Illinois District Council.  In September of 2001 after the merger with the St. Louis District Council, Dan was asked to take the position of Representative.  His area included East St. Louis, Belleville, Fairview Heights, Cahokia Heights, Sauget, Dupo, Caseyville, Washington Park, Brooklyn, Venice, and Fairmont City.

Dan became the Southern Illinois Coordinator in 2017 and oversees the lower Southern region which currently has 2 Local Unions and nine Business Representatives.  Upon creation of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council in September of 2021, Dan became a Regional Director for the newly formed Council.

Dan currently sits on several boards/committees including Secretary of the Southern Illinois Joint Apprenticeship Committee, Trustee for the Carpenters Joint Training Fund of St. Louis, Trustee for the Carpenters Pension Trust Fund of St. Louis, Chairman for the St. Clair County Housing Authority, an Executive Committee member of the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois, and board member at Sister Thea Bowman Catholic Grade School.
