SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. — The Airman & Family Readiness Center continues to implement various employment enhancements through the Scott Community Employment Partnership.

The latest initiative consisted of the Southern Illinois Builders Association in O’Fallon hosting a Spring Networking Event April 20 with the help of the Scott AFB Airman and Family Readiness Center and the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois.

One recruiter said, “We have never been to an event that was solely focused on helping the military in their job search. They bring professionalism and diverse skill sets to the table. We look forward to continuing working with Scott AFB in future employment events.”

The event attracted 15 companies to share job openings that also enhanced community relations with Scott.

The event targeted transitioning servicemembers with companies offering sustainable positions with their firms. Over 50 military members and spouses took advantage of this unique employment opportunity.

Scott Raether, AFRC Employment Program manager, has partnered with more than 30 companies that participate in job fairs, employer panels, mock interviews, workshops, and speed networking. He lauded the partnership.

“This partnership is always looking for ways that will bring companies into the program and recruit. They have found success in job placement and they love the idea of ‘giving back’ to the military community,” said Raether.

The Spring Networking Event received such positive feedback that another one is planned for the fall.
